Glitched Horizons is a limited-edition art drop by nix.eth Artists Statement: Was your first impression of this piece dystopian or futuristic? My inspiration for this came while reflecting on a duality I call "wire vs. wildflower." What image of the metaverse do we hold in our minds? What is the cost of pursuing it? In the beginning I felt the illustration's atmosphere was leaning more towards destruction than digital construction. I tried to balance it back with the grid in the foreground. In the final piece I still get a completely different vibe if I hold my hand over that grid. As I started to show Glitched Horizons to people one surprise was the difference in age groups. With children and teens, I always heard positive interpretations about a futuristic city or something in a game. With adults I was more likely to hear initial adjectives like apocalyptic or dystopian. As the boundaries between the digital and physical world become more blurred, maybe it's a bit of both? Glitched is the disruption, chaos, or unpredictably. Horizons is about possibilities, promising exploration, and even personal growth.
